Matthew Boyd
Attorney
About Me
Growing up the middle of five boys taught Matt how to compromise and also how to fight. He uses both skills sets in his practice on a daily basis in negotiating labor matters and aggressively litigating employment cases. Matt began his career working in the New York offices of a large law firm handling labor and employment matters for employers of all sizes. In 2008, Matt moved to Northeast Pennsylvania to serve as law clerk to the late Honorable Richard P. Conaboy in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Upon re-entering private practice, Matt resumed his focus on labor and employment law, advising employers on their labor and employment issues, negotiating labor contracts and litigating labor and civil rights cases.
Throughout his career, Matt has also handled complex commercial litigations at both trial and appellate levels including class action matters and complicated contract disputes. He has successfully litigated matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and before the National Labor Relations Board, Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Board of Review and other agencies and administrative bodies. In addition to his labor and litigation practices, Matt counsels employers on employee discipline, disability accommodation, leaves of absence, hiring, wage and hour, and other employment-related issues. He regularly drafts agreements and employee communications, and works to strategically prevent or limit issues. Matt offers employers a unique perspective after serving previously as counsel to various labor organizations throughout the region.
Attorney Boyd was recognized multiple times as a Pennsylvania Superlawyer Rising Star, an honor bestowed on only 2.5% of practicing attorneys in the state. He was appointed by the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as a Hearing Committee Member, sits on various boards, and is heavily involved in youth sports.
Matt and his beautiful wife, Ellen Jordan Boyd, reside in Clarks Green with their two sons, Matthew and Ryan.
He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.
